I enjoyed reading "Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell. It was written in a way that appeared to be a student's essay. The essay had several events leading up to the shooting of an elephant making the reading realistic and original. It also made the reader believe he or she was actually there seeing the elephant get shot. The vocabulary in the reading is impressive. I like how there is so much adrenaline leading up to the point where the narrator shoots the elephant. It keeps the reader on edge and makes them wonder if the elephant is actually going to get shot. After the elephant did get shot, it kept getting shot so the essay lost something at this point. It was not as effective because the elephant did not go in one shot, it took several times.
